Volunteer positions

In the last 3 years, the work done at Architects for Peace by a small team of volunteers, has made arch-peace a successful and relevant professional organisation. This also means that we are now stretched to the limits. We are inviting members to join our team by applying to the positions listed below.
Your support will be greatly appreciated and appropriately acknowledged as part of the arch-peace team.

Volunteer positions exist for arch-peace members in:

Australia

1. Coordination of printed material (Melbourne and other cities in Australia)
Description: design, maintenance, preparation and printing of information and forms to be handled out during events.
Requirements: an average of 3 hours a month, good email access/skills, very good graphic and computer skills

2. Newsletter design (anywhere in Australia): this position has been filled

3. Sponsorship (Melbourne)
Description: seeking sponsorships to support activities such as seminars, conferences, publications, general running costs and printed material.
Requirements: approximately 3 hours per month, preparation of letters, good email access/skills and meetings with possible sponsors. Very good people skills, outgoing and excited about arch-peace work. As part of the arch-peace team, we will work closely to provide all the support this position requires.

4. News updates (anywhere in Australia)
Description: Adding news, articles, competitions and events from different sources, into the correct topic area, ensuring that news from other contributors are correctly located in the appropriate category. We are subscribed to numerous planning and architectural news sources that will easy the task.
Requirements: Approximately 2 hours a month. Confident with Internet tools (editing, formatting), good computer skills, dedicated and tuned to the aims and ideas of Architects for Peace. Support will be provided to become familiar with Butterpaper forums – this is not difficult at all and you can start right now! If we notice that you are periodically adding news, we will contact you and invite you to formally become one of our news contributors.

5. Website design and support (anywhere in Australia)
Description: design of new webpages and web forms using PHP, HTML, Yahoo and/or blogs.
Requirements: Approximately 4-5 hours a month for the first 2 months (much less once these are set up requiring maintenance only). Very good HTML, PHP, FrontPage or other webpage design programs. Confident with Internet mechanisms (editing, formatting), very good general computer skills, good sense of architectural/urban graphics, resourceful.

6. Film, book and events review (Australia and International)
Description: if you like reading, going to the cinema and writing about what you see, volunteer and get the most out of what you love doing. We need a person or two, who could maintain a column on books, films and events review. Preferably the films and books will have an urban, architectural, environmental or social/political nature. We also need reviews on events organised by Architects for Peace in Australia, or in which we have participated.
Requirements: approximately 2 hours per month. Very good writing skills, critical thinker, well read and up-to-date with current social/political/urban events, preferably previous experience with essay writing, articles and commentary. Very good computer/internet skills.

International

7. News updates - English or in any other language under the "urban world" heading
Description: Adding news, articles, competitions and events from different sources into the correct topic area, ensuring that news from other contributors are correctly located in the appropriate category. Subscription to international e-news would simplify the task.
Requirements: Approximately 1-2 hours a month. Confident with Internet tools (editing, formatting), very good computer skills, dedicated and tuned to the aims and ideas of Architects for Peace. Support will be provided to become familiar with Butterpaper forums – this is not difficult at all and you can start right now! If we notice that you are periodically adding news, we will contact you and invite you to formally become one of our news contributors.
